ABOUT DR. BOSTON

Dr. Boston is a board certified Physiatrist and is also board certified in Pain Medicine. She was interested in the field of pain medicine due to her desire to help patients optimize their quality of life. She is also interested in preventive medicine by helping patients to espouse a healthy lifestyle with nutrition, hydration, exercise, and proper sleep habits. After becoming discouraged by the failure of opioids to make patients better, she has adopted an algorithm that avoids the use of opioids. Dr. Boston believes that pain can be treated and prevented using more natural means.  She is thrilled to join the team of dedicated physicians and health care providers at the Akasha Center for Integrative Medicine in Santa Monica in January 2015 as the Director of Pain Management and Sports Medicine.

Dr. Boston graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Psychology from Tulane University in 1996. In 2000, Dr. Boston earned her medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at Tulane Hospital, followed by a 3-year residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the West Los Angeles Veterans Hospital/UCLA Multicampus Program, in which she was a Chief Resident during her final year of residency. She completed a 1-year Fellowship in Pain Medicine at UCLA in 2005.

Dr. Boston enjoys running, skiing, and group exercise classes for resistance training, balance, and stretching.   Her interest in the well-being associated with regular exercise led her to become a certified personal trainer with the American College of Sports Medicine in 2014.  She also enjoys reading and spending quality time with her husband and two young daughters.
